Description:

Share UCSF data responsiblyEnrolling an adequate number of eligible, diverse, and enthusiastic participants is one of the most crucial requirements for successful research, yet a high proportion of studies do not meet recruitment goals. The CTSI Participant Recruitment Program works to address this problem by developing infrastructure, resources, and services to support research recruitment.

PRP’s newest service, the MyChart Recruitment Service, provides researchers with the ability to identify UCSF patients that match eligibility criteria for research studies with an automated, real-time, search of the Electronic Health Record data. Eligible patients are then contacted via MyChart, the UCSF patient portal. Patients without a MyChart account are not left out: the Participant Recruitment Program sends paper letters in the mail to potentially eligible patients without MyChart.

In this session we will demonstrate the power of this EHR recruitment method, share best practices for automated recruitment queries, and let researchers know how to get started.
