Description:

Flipped classrooms is a process to help address the needs of adult learners by developing learning opportunities which blend e-learning and classroom learning. At UCSF Health the Clinical Nurse Educators have embraced this concept and added the theoretical framework from the Six Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning with the digital age learning theory of connectivism. Participants who attend an in person learning event will no longer expect to be stagnant thinkers while listening to a presenter read bullet points from PowerPoint slides. Our team uses a TED talk style presentation format which helps to reduce the quantity of slides and increases the learner engagement through storytelling, panel discussions, and often asking the learners to participate using their handheld devices. This presentation will demonstrate how we are addressing digital technology learners needs while maintaining a focus business outcomes and performance results.
