The UCSF Population Health Data Initiative: New Research Resources

Time:

Room:
Genentech Hall Auditorium
Track:

Description:

Share UCSF data responsiblyThe Population Health Data Initiative (PHDI) supports efforts to provide data and other resources for population health, health equity, and health services research. As a step toward improving data access, the PHDI has developed a catalog of public and private population health and health services data sets, which we will share as part of this session. The PHDI has also established institutional licenses for several commonly used data sources, including Truven commercial claims data, national healthcare utilization data, and geocoded national survey data from the CDC. We will describe how to access these, and we will solicit input into additional resources that would be helpful to the research community. The PHDI and the UCSF Library also support researcher user groups and facilitate information sharing and knowledge networks for commonly used data sources. We will review these available resources. Finally, the PHDI is working in collaboration with the SOM Dean's office on enhancing computational resources at UCSF, and we will use this session to describe these new resources. Now in its second year, the PHDI is funded by the UCSF School of Medicine Dean’s Office and the Executive Vice Chancellor's Office.
